Syringopleural shunting

Syringopleural shunting through a right T5-T6 hemilaminectomy and tube placement through the Root Entry Zone. The patient is a 14 year old girl operated at birth for the correction of a lumbar myelomeningocele. She is fully ambulatory and started developing motor and sensory symptoms in her lower extremities. No evidence on MRI for a focal point of tethering, so decision to treat with a syringopleural shunt placement.
