I am a beginner bowyer with a love for medieval style longbows. Nine months ago I made my first bow - an ash survival longbow. Since then I've made five more bows, the last a 100lb yew warbow. I am asked many times how I started bow making. Whilst I am not an expert at making bows - a long, long way from that - I am perhaps an expert at being a beginner. So, here are my tips for anyone who wants to make a longbow but doesn't know where to start.
