This video demonstrates side-by-side the difference between standard per-vertex lighting calculation (on the left) and per-pixel lighting done on hardware level via shaders (right frame). Note: the difference is subtle, you probably need to pause the video to see it. Highlighted spots are more accurate with per-pixel lighting.
