Street Dogs Fight Crime on India's Streets

As per the Times of India, February 20, 2010, a family of street dogs in Ahmedabad drove would-be burglars away from the scene of the would-be crime -- a housing compound in the district of Usmanpura. At around 4 am the thieves entered the compound. Resident Manjula Shah was alerted by the barking of the dogs. She came out and witnessed the resident street dogs chasing the bad guys away, after they had started to case residents' cars for valuables. Another resident,Meenal Shah, who has encountered some opposition from neighbors for feeding the dogs, now says the residents are grateful for the presence, and fierce loyalty, of the canines.
