On STC DSL modem by default only two Ethernet ports works i.e. ETH1 and ETH2 which are probably highlighted in YELLOW colour and the remaining two ports are ETH3 and ETH4 (which are highlighted in RED depending on the modems model) don't work when a PC/Laptop is connected with via Ethernet cable. Even though ETH3 and ETH4 are operational but they are configured for normal internet usage, they are configured for IPTV services, so if you don't have or don't want IPTV services at all then you can configure these ETH3 and ETH4 ports for your normal internet usage. All you need to do is go to your windows PC's command Prompt and type telnet and reset of the commands which are used in this video.
Before you start the config, go on make sure you have TELNET client feature enabled if your using Windows 7 or higher OS then its disabled by default and if it is disabled then you would need enable it (a third party program like Putty or SecureCRT can be used to configure the modem) so,
All you need to do is,
- Go to Control Panel then,
- Programs or Programs and Features ,depending on the view settings
- under Programs and Features you will find an option called Turn Windows Features ON or OFF
- a new window will popup, on that window, scroll down and you will see a box called Telnet Client , check it if its not checked.
Now you can start configuring your STC modem by going through exactly like in the video, but before you start configuring the modem do Hard reboot it one time meaning turn off and on the power of the modem.
