Speed and Velocity Simple Tutorial

Speed tells us how far an object or person is travelling, but it doesn't tell us what direction its travelling in. This makes it a scalar quantity. Velocity on the other hand tells us both the magnitude (i.e. how fast something's travelling) as well as direction - this makes it a vector measurement. You can calculate velocity by dividing displacement by time.
