More than 10,000 people took to the streets of San Sebastian in Basque Country, Saturday, calling for the release of a number of members of the former Basque separatist organisation ETA, who are currently in prison despite being seriously ill.
SOT, Joseba Azkarraga, member of Basque Nationalist Party (Spanish): "Our goal with this demonstration of 'Sare' [network supporting ETA prisoners] is to be the beginning of a social activation for the whole of the Basque society but also for the political parties and the institutions. From 'Sare' we are not asking for anything that is not already in the law. We are asking the Spanish government and the justice that acts together with the Spanish government to act legally and with humanity. Therefore these prisoners, some of them severely ill, we want them at home, we want them alive."
