Protesters rallied outside the US Naval Station Rota (NAVSTA Rota), Sunday, in protest to occupation of the area by the United States and the deployment of US troops to the military base.
The protest coincided with US President Barack Obama’s state visit to Spain, which started on Saturday. One demonstrator at the Rota naval base opposed the president’s visit, calling him a "Persona Non Grata."
Protesters carried banners with messages against the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and other international trade agreements, which one protester claimed were being imposed on Europe.
