In Today's Video, we are reviewing the Sony 85mm f/1.8 FE lens and getting a comprehensive look at the viability of this lens for both photos and video. We compare the lens to the Sony 85mm f/1.4 G-Master as well as the Sony Zeiss 85mm f/1.8 Batis Lens.
85mm is a great focal length for portraits, and we start the video examining the viability of the Sony 85mm f/1.8 for taking stunning sharp portraits. Compared to the other Sony 85mm lenses, this one holds up very admirably. In fact, I am confident enough to say that this lens is nearly identicle in terms of image quality with the other lenses having luxury features.
The lens is also a great choice for videographers for the price. The auto focus in video mode is really impressive for the lens. We tested the video shooting sports-hockey, and examined how the camera tracks a subject across the screen for sports. We also took it to shoot a concert to look at the viability of the low light.
Overall this is a great 85mm lens on a budget. Anyone looking for an affordable 85mm, look no further!
As always, thank you very much for watching. Let me know what you think, and what you'd like to see.
