The penultimate horror film from HERSHELL GORDON LEWIS, The Wizard of Gore is one of his most technically primitive yet thematically audacious works. Using his love of illusion as a backdrop, Herschel weaves the disturbing tale of Montag The Magnificent (RAY SAGER), a magician in the Grand Guignol tradition, whose grisly stage mutilations of female audience members have a habit of becoming real several hours after they leave the theater.
