Here is a quick and easy shop idea on how to label your wooden hardware bins or boxes to stay more organized and actually be able to find what your looking for in the shop.
To get started I printed the labels I needed for organizing my screws on some ivory colored paper thats as close to the actual color of the plywood, then trimmed the label slightly larger than the edge of the box where they will be placed. I glued the label in place using regular wood glue. Once the glue dried I trim the paper to its finished size, sandpaper and a small block of wood seemed to work the best. Then I sprayed a couple of thin coats of clear satin laquer to protect the label from the everyday wear and tear of the shop.
The idea for using the paper label is that if I want to change the label I can simply sand it off and replace it with a new one, making it somewhat semi-permanent.
This technique is much easier than the previous method I used on the sides of stackable shop boxes I made in a previous video. Also, this technique can be used for adding labels to any type of wood box!
