This is what it looks like when a photo is taken with a Fujifilm X-PRO1 mirrorless camera. The shutter is normally open, so to take a photo the shutter closes, opens and closes again, then finally opens back up go enable live view mode again. This is actually twice as much movement as a typical DSLR shutter (when not using live view mode on a DSLR).
There are also a couple shots of what it looks like when the lens' aperture closes and opens. The 35mm lens is stopped down to f/4 and f/8.
This video was filmed with a Redlake N3 high speed camera at 2,000 frames per second.
