Slaughterhouse crackdown: What will happen to Lucknow's famous kebabs?

The state government's crackdown on slaughterhouses is a burning topic in Uttar Pradesh. Lucknow is famous for its kebabs and one will surely wonder how the move will impact Tunday Kababi? We asked people about the same and it seems it’s the only thing that concerns the foodies here. Some said politics should be kept away from the food, a few also slammed the Government’s move, while some apprehended hike in the meat prices. The state of Uttar Pradesh, where the issue of illegal slaughterhouses has suddenly come into focus, is a market leader in the production and export of meat in the country. No wonder then that nearly 1.10 crore animals are “legally” butchered in the country every year. There is no record of illegal animal slaughter (said to be rampant) and the quantity of meat produced from animals butchered illegally.
