Should the husband be involved when the mother is breastfeeding?

The most important person is the mom's commitment to breastfeeding, to learning the process, and the second is some kind of support. So, if her significant other, if her husband isn't supportive, then when she gets into trouble, when she has questions, when things are not going well, then the answer is 'just give up'. If she has a supportive person who does the things that she needs done - changing the baby, burping the baby, giving her back rub - all those are supportive behaviors that keeps her breastfeeding for as long as they want. But husbands are critical. I always tell them that they don't need to know anything about breastfeeding, they just need to be supportive of their wife's decision.
