Horses are animals that fit in nature, they are made to live the life they do.
Years ago, as far as I know 4000 y before we (got civilized) started to count the years somewhere in Mongolia people sat for the first time on horses. They managed to let the horse do what they wanted.Sit on the, let them pull things and at the end ate them.
Horses, or better said the relationship horse-human changed the world.
From there on things changed. People were able to ride or let a horse move a carriage and people ruled the world. Everywhere people started to sit on horses and they started to breed horses for the use of people.
I know for sure that there were many people who loved these animals just like people do now. Horse are kind, friendly and thats a big part of their instinct.
In nature they live in herds and groups, and sometimes a stallion lives alone for a while before het starts his ow herd. A stallion is the one who takes care of the herd, he protects the mares and the filly's against danger. Thats his main task.
For people sex is very important, and it is for animals the same. Except that male horse, stallions, know how to deal with self control. A stallion who 'owns' a herd cannot have sex every time he wants. He has to work in his relationships. if the mares don't like him they will walk away.
So for a stalion it is important to have high standard relationships and when the mares after 11 mont of carrying a filly he has to be the one they want to have sex with.
That is the main reason why a stallion has self control and a mare less, both are ruled by hormones (testosterone and estrogen) but the stallion has less trouble with this compared to the mares. Mares who want to breed can totally lose themselves. People with mares know this behavior.
Self control, to me horses are the best teachers in self control.
