This was a present for my father. I reviewed over 10 different models, and settled on the Seiko SBDC001 44mm with a black dial. The original strap is a steel bracelet. I am featuring it here with a rubber strap.
The Sumo, nicknamed by the fans on popular Seiko forums, was released way back in 2007 as part of the Prospex line, which stands for Professional specification.
In this video I describe the design of the watch case.
The Sumo doesn't have a crown guard - thank goodness. Instead the crown is positioned our of harms way at 4 o'clock. The bezel is concealed in profile. It has two different surface finishes to give the case depth.
