Second Sister Rabbit (and a Market Tour) // Chengdu: City of Gastronomy 08

Rabbit is quite popular in Chengdu, China. The meat goes very well with the Sichuan spices and sauces. This video showcases a rabbit dish that can be found at the Second Sister Rabbit food stall. In the video I mistakenly translated it to Two Sister Rabbit. At any rate, the stall's specialty is cold rabbit meat chunks served with peanuts and a spicy, sweet, tingly sauce. You can probably find the dish in other restaurants, but this chain is well known for it. It was some tasty stuff. It hit all the right flavors and left my mouth with a satisfying burn and tingle. The peanuts help to take the edge off of the savory sauce. I did find some bones in it, but a lot of the meat was boneless and tender. Since the stall is takeout only, you'll probably want to find a place to sit and eat it. China's parks are always entertaining. WHERE TO GET IT IN CHENGDU In Chinese, the dish is pronounced Èr jiě tù dīng (二姐兔丁), which essentially means 2 sisters rabbit chunks. I believe there are other versions of this rabbit salad, but I don't know what it would be called in other establishments. I got mine from the chain that's actually called 2 Sisters Rabbit, but I'm not sure if other restaurants would have the exact thing. There are a few 二姐兔丁 in Chengdu, but I went to the one west of at the Yulin market at 12 Yulin W St (成都市武侯区玉林综合市场1层). The market itself is quite nice, but the 2 sisters rabbit, in the park among the card players, was incredible. In this series, I am eating my way through a deck of cards.
