Athani BJP MLA Mahesh Kumathalli has expressed his displeasure over reports about him being denied ministerial berth. He said denying him ministerial berth will send a wrong message and those who are planning to join BJP will now hesitate to join the party. Kumathalli has further added that he was promised a cabinet berth by people holding responsible positions. Mahesh Kumathalli went on to say that H Vishwanath should be accommodated in the cabinet if BJP denies him a berth. He has also rejected the argument that two leaders from the same constituency can't be given cabinet berths. Deputy CM Laxman Savadi is also from Athani. Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa ended all the confusion relating to cabinet expansion and said that new ministers will take oath at 10:30 am in Raj Bhavan on February 6. BS Yediyurappa also said that 13 MLAs will take oath as ministers. BS Yediyurappa also added that 10+3 formula will be adapted which means 10 newly-elected MLAs to be inducted and 3 original BJP MLAs will get minister berth. Out of 11 newly-elected MLAs 10 will be inducted into the ministry and one of them will have to be dropped.
