Mayor, Edwin M. Lee, has visited the site where a Boeing 777 crash landed at
San Francisco airport and says it is "incredible" there were so
many survivors.
The plane crash landed with 307 people on board, two people have been confirmed dead with 181 injured.
South Korea's transportation ministry confirmed in a statement that the tail "hit the runway and the aircraft veered to the left out of the runway".
San Francisco mayor Edwin M. Lee said: "Having visited the site with staff and with Police and the Fire Department, it is incredible that we have, and very lucky that we have, so many survivors.
"But, there are still many that are critically injured. And our prayers and our thoughts continue to go out for them."
Rachael Kagan, spokesperson for San Francisco General Hospital said: "The patients had a variety of injuries. The most critically injured, some of them had burns.
