There has been a notable increase in Russia’s influence and involvement in African militaries. Since 2005 Russian arms exports to the continent have markedly increased, whilst Russia has also signed more than 20 military co-operation agreements with African nations since 2010 and held the Russia-Africa summit in Sochi in 2019.
