Vita Vakhitova, whose boyfriend was inside the mall when the fire started, said: “I saw a woman whom firefighters and policemen didn't let into the building. She tried to rescue her child who was still inside. They didn't let anyone in. [People] broke windows with their legs, hands, and everything else because it was impossible to stay there." Vakhitova explained that her boyfriend and others inside the mall tried to rescue children who had become trapped in the cinema hall. “They were told that there were no children in the cinema hall. But in the evening, we learned that there were children in the cinema hall. 11 bodies were found,” she said.
