Construction of the first section of the Kerch Strait Bridge linking the Crimean Peninsula with the Taman Peninsula was completed on Tuesday, with the structure reaching Tuzla Island.
SOT, Yuri Safonov, chief engineer of the federal road agency's administration of federal highways Taman (Russian): "Construction of the first bridge section of the transport route over the Kerch Strait was completed to Tuzla Island. This is section is number 173 of the road bridge. Its construction consumed about 400 tons of steel and 250 cubic meters of concrete."
SOT, Yuri Safonov, chief engineer of the federal road agency's administration of federal highways Taman (Russian): "The height of the bridge section is only about three meters and in general at this site the bridge will rise to seven meters from the ground. The bridge reaches its peak in the area of the Kerch-Yenikalski Channel where the level over the navigation channel is 35 metres high."
