Roush Fenway 2009 Season Review

Jack Roush figured he was due for some bad luck. His No. 99 Ford and Carl Edwards got so close to winning the 2008 championship, within two botched races. But they didn't. "Whenever you run as well as we did last year and you let it get away, many times that carries with it luck that's not as good for the year that follows," said Roush, owner of Roush Fenway Racing. "We should not have allowed last year's championship to escape us." His team paid for that all this season, he thinks. A year after one Roush Fenway Racing team won the most races, two more made the Chase and a fourth barely missed it, heading into Ford Championship Weekend, the manufacturer's flagship team has slipped out of the title picture. The Roush Fenway team has turned to figuring out how to make 2010 a success. Roush and his drivers are confident it will be. "We're looking forward to next year," Greg Biffle said. "Our new engine will help us a little bit, figuring out our chassis better will help us, and getting to some places to do some testing will help us. We'll be a little bit more outside box when it comes next year, as far as trying stuff early in the season."
