Here's a great sing-along song from Woody Guthrie's 1941 'Columbia River Ballads' collection. For this one Woody more or less borrowed the melody from his good friend Lead Belly's song, 'Goodnight Irene'. The song became famous as an anthem about American public works projects arising out of the New Deal in the Great Depression. In 1987, it was adopted as the official folk song of the State of Washington.
