Glasgow's St Enoch's Centre. Rod Stewart has revealed that he is to perform at the brand new Hydro stadium in Glasgow next year. The mammoth building is currently undergoing construction, but today during a book signing in Glasgow, the Maggie May singer told stv.tv's Gill Harvey that he's excited to perform there. When asked if he had a message for his fans in Scotland, he said: "I'm looking forward to playing the Hydro, it's going to be fantastic. I had a look around the building and it's wonderful." The date hasn't been officially announced on Rod Stewart's official website as yet, with gigs in Nottingham, London, Manchester, Birmingham and Sheffield the only dates released so far. The Hydro is tipped to be officially opened in September 2013. Rod was in the city for a fleeting visit, signing copies of his book Rod: The Autobiography, in which he opens up about everything from his career with The Faces to solo stardom, his marriages, love for his children and rock 'n' roll lifestyle. After the book signing, which took place in association with WH Smith at Glasgow's St Enoch's Centre, Rod, his son Alastair Wallace Stewart -- who was dressed in a mini Celtic strip - his elder brother Don and some friends headed off to Parkhead to catch today's Celtic match. Speaking to stv.tv at today's event, Rod predicted Celtic will make it to the knockout stages of the Champions League "without a doubt" and dubbed Gordon Strachan the perfect person to take on the currently vacant role of Scotland manager. Best friend, car dealer Alan Sewell, who was photographed consoling Rod as the rocker broke down when Celtic beat Barcelona at the recent Champions League game, told stv.tv that he loves the team and gets "so emotional" when he sees them storm to victory. And Rod's brother Don also opened up about what Rod is like as a brother, how close he is to his family, and revealed that his parents had asked him to talk Rod out of following his dreams of a career in the music industry as a teen -- joking that it was just as well he ignored them.
