Replacing a stripped plastic tripod mount of a camera with a metal one

I managed to strip the threads on the plastic tripod mount of a video camera. Rather than getting a new camera, I enlarged the tripod socket to take on a 1/4"-20 (standard tripod threading) T nut. I had to file the T nut down some since it was too long and to get the T nut's flange to sit flush on the camera (more surface area for gluing).
Glued the T nut to the camera using a 5 minute epoxy and clamped it down overnight, I also allowed the epoxy to cure for 3 days before I used the fixed tripod socket.
It's been working better than new, there is no risk of stripping the tripod threads no matter how hard you tighten the tripod screw.
