Reel Iraq 2013

www.highlightarts.org Reel Iraq 2013 - events across the UK in March 2013 exploring the contribution of art, culture and creativity to Iraqi life in a time of conflict, marking 10 years since the US and UK led military invasion, and standing in solidarity with the people of Iraq. Reel Iraq is full of firsts, with events across the UK, including film, music, poetry, exhibitions and discussions. The festival will host Iraqi musicians performing in the UK for the first time; the first readings of poetry by Iraqi and UK based poets, including translations of each other's work, following a workshop we held in Erbil earlier this year; the first screenings of upcoming Iraqi films in presence of their Directors; new exhibitions by Iraqi artists; and panel discussions with speakers from around the world. Reel Iraq includes events for all; for celebration and for reflection.
