This is a rare vintage metal tin that originally held a dozen Mars Lumograph type wood pencils back in the day. In the center of the hinged lid is a profile presumably of the Roman god of war, Mars. The inside lid has another variation of theMars Staedtler logo The back edge of the lid reads "Germany". The empty tin measures about 7 1/8" by 2 1/8" by 11/16" and is in good condition as you can see by the photos with minor wear, primarily on the sides bottom.
