Rapid Fire, a lego EV3 turret

This Lego turret shoots 4 beams a second at high velocity. Some people do wonder why we used the NXT motors. Well, the NXT motors can be controled for speed. This allowed us to ramp up the speed slowly and controlled. Without ramping up the lego gears will grind and get damaged due to the inertia of the fly wheels.
