Queen of the Jews

A Maccabee Queen, Shalom-Zion, ruled Judea in the first-century BCE. She commanded armies but was called the Queen of Peace. She was pious, but sponsored a revolution in the Jewish religion. Judaism, Christianity and Islam -- and thus the history of the western world -- would be entirely different without her.
