A big challenge for quad amputees, or even bi-lateral amputees, is putting pants on. When you have no fingers, arms, or even elbows there is no way to grip and pull the pants over your waist. If you are missing legs, you cannot use a dressing rack with hooks unless you put on prosthetics which may not be comfortable, desireable or even doable. This video shows my son using a flexible device made of CVPC segments to put on his pants in seconds. The device (DAD) is custom designed around the specific amputees hip and butt dimensions, body length, pant waist band circumference and mechanics of what the user can do. The upright sections of the device shown have rolling ¾" pipe segments over ½" fixed pipe segments that allow the amputee to slide more smoothly through and into the pants. The device is designed for pants or shorts that have some elastic in the waist band.
