The Janata Dal (United) on Wednesday expelled its former vice-president Prashant Kishor and leader Pavan Verma. The move came a day after a war of words between Kishor and party chief Nitish Kumar, who had claimed that Kishor was inducted into the party at the direction of Amit Shah. Dismissing the allegations as "fake", Kishor had called Nitish Kumar a liar. Pavan Varma had written a letter to Nitish Kumar, seeking clarity on the party aligning with the BJP in the Delhi elections. he also referred to the Bihar chief minister's "private apprehensions" on how the BJP is leading the country. Nitish at that time also said, Varma was free to leave the JDU.
