Police shooting in Australia: Parramatta gunman kills police employee before getting shot - TomoNews

PARRAMATTA, AUSTRALIA — Australian police and news outlets are reporting that two people have died after a shooting event in front of the New South Wales police Headquarters in the Sydney suburb of Parramatta. Witnesses reported seeing a black-clad man waving a gun and yelling in front of a New South Wales police headquarters in Parramatta, Australia at 4:35 p.m. Friday. The man is reported to have fatally shot a police IT specialist on the Charles Street sidewalk, near the headquarters. The Daily Telegraph reported that the man then fired at the front of the police headquarters building. Witness Edwin Almeida, a real estate agent working nearby, told the AAP that he saw armed security guards and a plainclothes officer shoot the man from inside the headquarters lobby. The black-clad man and the police IT specialist who were shot are both reported to have died. Roads within a 2 kilometer radius of the police headquarters were closed to traffic for several hours after the shooting.
