PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA, THE WHITE BUILDING, Bodine D pt1 (sometimes spelled Bodean) is called by local expats as the "white building". the place is a real slum, filled with the urban poor and squatter dwellers. a few upper crust folks may refer to these rooms as the Bassac apartments. recently folks from Africa have been taking up space here, so i have been told. this was filmed in the early 2000's.. Famous apartment buildings, a vibrant community that locals and outsiders consider a slum. A complex of 2,500 residents, Started out as a artist colony in 1963. the social experiment that failed, poverty, drugs, sex workers, petty crime, dangerous construction and poor sanitation, have taken it's toll. PLEASE, DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY, THIS PLACE IS SLATED TO BE TORN DOWN and a new slum will be erected. so "they" say.
