Today I used Penrite Coolant Flush on my Holden VE Calais V8 cooling system. I was very excited to empty the cruddy rusty water out of my cooling system and top it up with nice fresh red Penrite coolant.
The Holden VE V8 Radiator has a handy drain plug which makes this job pretty straight forward. I assume the plug is also there on any Pontiac G8 or Chevy SS of the same era.
I performed multiple flushes on my car given the state of my coolant which extended the time it took to do this job - however if you are only flushing once you could do it under an hour.
My theory on why my coolant was so rusty was that my water pump had been replaced once before, but was probably only topped off with water.
Frustrating that once I finished the job, I noised a noise coming from the water pump..then a screech coming from my water pump combined with my temp rising meant only one thing...my water pump was cooked again!
Stay tuned for the next video where I will attempt to change it out without breaking anything!
