In honor of Black History Month, The students of Pearl-Cohn decided to "Trade Places" with the MNPS Board of Education and be the TEACHER.....
Due to HIGHLY RACIALLY INSENSITIVE events that transpired in January of 2019 involving the MNPS School Board, Pearl-Cohn High School Students felt it incumbent upon themselves to teach a much-needed and important lesson on Black History.
As it was true for the holocaust, and true about the apartheid,
We need to look back to where we’ve been as a society, so we can see the warning signs that show us when we’re headed in that wrong direction.
The students do not point any fingers or call anyone a racist, for we are ALL standing in the need of prayer. The students love and respect their Board of Education. But we do realize that everyone has their BLINDSPOTS when it comes to cultures other than their own. So this is a "Lesson of Awareness" for our Board of Education about the African-American perspective.
When we acknowledge other people’s experiences as valid....we set the stage for growth as a School System.
