Paul Desmond ft. Jim Hall - The Girl From East 9th Street

Bossa Antigua (1964) - Track 8 R.I.P. (12/4/1930 - 12/10/13) I was stunned to find out Jim Hall passed away a couple months ago. He was simply legendary and I wish I had more time to prepare a proper tribute. 'The Girl From East 9th Street' is one of my favorite Paul Desmond compositions, and I was surprised it hasn't been uploaded onto youtube before. The Paul Desmond/Jim Hall sessions are some of my favorites.. Jim's solo at 2:57 is not the most mind-blowing, in-your-face, rapid-fire solo; rather it is deliberate, calculated, and delivered with restraint, so that each note has its logical place, and allows the listener to fill in the gaps.
