Parliament House Opening (1988) - 2/6 - The Queen Arrives

Queen Elizabeth II arrives for the ceremonial opening of Australia's new Parliament House, in Canberra, on May 9, 1988. The opening of the new Parliament House was held on the same day as the first sitting of the new Commonwealth Parliament in Melbourne in 1901 and the opening of the provisional Parliament House (now known as Old Parliament House and site of the Museum of Australian Democracy) in 1927.
