Riding the very scenic but SLOW high-rise traction elevators that service the Coach Insignia restaurant at the Renaissance Center in Detroit. This is the second highest panoramic restaurant in the country, located at the very top of the Renaissance Center's Marriott hotel (which is the tallest hotel in the Western Hemisphere). These elevators bypass all of the guestroom levels, and service only the 3rd (main) and 72nd floors. These probably originally had Lexan fixtures, which got replaced in 2004. Also notice the unique mushroom shape of the cab. These offer a very spectacular view of Windsor, Canada and the Detroit River. (Sorry about the long intro; it takes approximately 1 minute and 20 seconds for the elevator to get from 3 to 72 and vice-versa.) TECHNICAL SPECS: Make: Otis Type: Traction Capacity: 3000 Lbs. Number of Floors: 70 (2 Serviced; 68 "Skipped") Year Installed: 1977 Year Modernized: New Controls Installed 2004
