Americans regularly celebrate the service of returning military service members. Yet veterans coming home from war zones find that the civilian world actually isn’t waiting with its arms wide open — especially if there’s any inkling that the vet has PTSD. This stigma means that at a time when vets need the most help in transitioning back to stable lives back home, they frequently find themselves shut out.
