Hi! The circular design of this guard forms a 360 degree line of protection against leaks giving you protection against a sudden loss of output. This allows you time to change your appliance before an embarrassing incident happens! It also protects the stoma from inadvertent bumps or injury, and protects the stoma from waistbands of clothing so you can wear normal clothes. In fact, you use your normal clothing to press the guard into the outer taped portion of your skin barrier, creating a sort of 'fence' or boundary line against loss of output. The soft adapters make it so comfortable to wear! We now have an even thinner version available having only a 5/8" space for your stoma, vs. the original guard in the video having a 1- 1 1/4" space.
