I stumbled upon the Orvibo WiFi socket and thought I'd give it a try. It works ever bit as good as any WiFi socket and has an excellent companion app (WiWo) to allow full control whether across the room at home or across the country. Although there are many home automation Wi-Fi sockets out there (Ankuoo, BayIt, Mudder, D-Link, Z-Wave, Insteon, etc), the Orvibo is great because it's affordable and you don't need any other equipment. It hooks up to your home's WiFi and all you need is the app on your Android phone or tablet or your iPhone or iPad and you can control the plug no matter where you are!
