Origami Folding Chair - made from sheet metal

The Origami Chair is a fully functional chair that folds to a completely flat surface without any disassembly or tools. It is inspired by dynamic surface structures from nature which utilise pleats to add rigidity to their surfaces, and then achieved through the geometric study of thick-rigid origami to create the chair. From a completely flat state, the chair need only be lifted from the two handles and it will naturally fold itself into the correct form. In the flat state, it can be stored away, hung in a closet, or even mounted flat on a wall as artwork when not in use as a chair. It can be stacked when flat for incredible space efficiency, especially for transport. It is constructed with laser cut aluminium sheets, powdercoated, and riveted together with piano hinges.
