Note: This video has not taken just hours but days, around 2 weeks even to complete and in all honesty I believe this is one of the Top 10 best videos of my Youtube work so far. Therefore, I really hope everyone all over the world appreciates this mash up!
Once Upon A Time In High School (말죽거리 잔혹사) is a film that is very special to me, I found it was a really fascinating and expertly made movie; which along with A Dirty Carnival(2006) put Yoo Ha at the top of my list for the all time Best Directors ever.
The actor, Kwon Sang-woo gives fantastic performance as the South Korean young High School senior during 1978, where was he pushed to extreme limits to fight against the school bullies; after facing bullying and physical abuse from them and even at home from his own father. Studying Bruce Lee and training in Jeet Kun Do diligently, he then gets the strength and courage to eventually confront his attackers.
Later, when seeing a classmate and a friend getting beat up in school by the bully he decides to step in and defend not only the helpless victim, but himself and everyone at school - no matter what the consequences are.
As you can see it wasn't an easy choice but given the circumstances it was the right one!
The emotion behind the fight, the realism of it and the whole entire scenario is what makes it much better than many other teen movies or movies about teenagers, whether they're set in the past like this one or the present. For the music it took a long time to find the right song that can have many layers complementing the story and portray the action honestly without taking away the anger and realistic mood of it; which the song 'Cinema' composed by Karsh Kale featuring Vidhi Sharma's vocals truly does.
Karsh Kale, a composer who I've been listening for almost 10 years now and used his music in quite a few videos has proven again how amazing his work is - Through his last album called 'Cinema' as well.
Relaxing, Operatic, Haunting, Aggressive, Cinematic and Thought-Provoking - 'Cinema' by Karsh Kale is music that should be celebrated for generations.
Here is the movie's Original Scene for reference ---} https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsjwEwpoNbI
Thanks for watching and have a nice day.
