The longest race from Cycle Vison 2012 at the Midland Circuit near Lelystad: the three hour race. The strong wind, the continuous corners and the fact that many riders were together on this short track made it tricky for the competitors. 20% DNF!
I had two camera's with me: one tiny #808 HDcam facing forward and the dependable Vio POV1 facing backwards. Since the latter has a small screen, I could see what was behind me during the race. Together with the mirror inside my race cap I had enough visual information to overtake safely and to see when someone was about to overtake me.
I had to be careful not to use too much power, because my achilles tendon is still a bit sensitive. So I made a very steady pace with around 42km/h during the whole 3 hours and made sure to spin the pedals fast for minimal impact. That pace was good for 18th place. BTW: The camera's did not shoot much longer than an hour, so the finish was not recorded.
