2018 Montana Teacher of the Year Melissa Romano says that she began her career as a second-grade teacher, and had extensive ideas about how she would teach her math lessons, which she had spent a lot of time preparing. But a student in her class demonstrated a completely different way to address a math problem. It was a very meaningful moment for Romano, and afterward it affected how she presented information to students in the classroom.
