Obesity is certainly an important topic of interest to the public health community, policy-makers and consumers alike. This video provides facts on obesity and perspectives on real-world solutions to the challenge. Panelists include Dr. Elizabeth Whelan and Dr. Karen Reznik Dolins. Dr. Whelan is president of the American Council on Science and Health, an independent, non-profit consumer education organization which she founded more than 30 years ago to add balance to the debate on public health issues. She holds a Masters in public health from the Yale School of Medicine, and both a Master of Science and Doctor of Science from the Harvard School of Public Health. In addition, she has written a number of books on health and environmental issues and has appeared on major media outlets including MSNBC and Fox News, as well as in print publications such as the New York Times. Dr. Karen Dolins is a registered dietitian and is board certified in sports dietetics. She is an adjunct associate professor at Columbia Universitys Teachers College. In private practice with more than 25 years of experience helping kids, teens and adults achieve their nutrition and fitness goals, Dr. Dolins worked with the New York Knicks for 10 years and currently consults to Columbia University Athletics.
