(5 Jan 2016) US President Barack Obama wiped tears from his eyes as he spoke about the victims of gun violence on Tuesday.
He unveiled an array of measures tightening control and enforcement of firearms in the US, using his presidential powers in the absence of legal changes he implored Congress to pass.
Obama accused the gun lobby of taking Congress hostage, but said "they cannot hold America hostage."
He said everyone needed "to demand a Congress brave enough to stand up to the gun lobby's lies."
