Lauren Delbert said she was "ecstatic" after New York Giants punter Steve Weatherford not only noticed her creative invitation, but actually accepted it. She tweeted Weatherford a picture of a football covered with the words, "Wanna tackle prom with me?" New York Giants Steve Weatherford Tweeted back "YES". It took less than an hour for the 6-foot-2-inch player to say yes — something that Delbert said she did not expect. "I thought he was being friendly," she said of Weatherford's response. And the NFL player initially thought the teen was kidding. "I said yes and then I contacted her after that and I'm like, if you're serious, I'd love to do it. I think it would be fun," Weatherford told PIX11. Delbert's boyfriend of two years, also named Steven, will join the pair going to the dance. A Giants fan himself, Delbert's boyfriend said he's just as excited as she is that Weatherford said yes. A father of three who told Delbert's dad that his little girl "is in good hands," Weatherford will pick up the couple in a Ferrari before heading to the big dance. The Bayonne student will, appropriately, be wearing blue. And Weatherford will be color coordinated.
