This video explores how a basic Nitinol Heat Engine works. Nitinol is a Shape Shifting Memory Alloy, that can be used to produce mechanical energy, by employing a simple temperature differential technique. This is part 2 of version 1.0, or 1.5. I put this video together to better explain the process of a basic Nitinol heat engine, because of all the confusion and negative comments I received from part 1. The only mechanical changes that were necessary to fix the problem with this version was a larger outer wheel, and two side pillars that I added to raise the wheel to accommodate the larger diameter.
I’d also recommend these great videos on Nitinol.
